BDC Updates

Mon, Aug 16, 2021 2:00 PM EDT

Broadway Dance Center will require proof of full vaccination (two weeks from the date of the last shot) for students, faculty, and staff starting Monday, Sept 6, 2021. This policy fulfills the New York City mandate requiring all indoor fitness, performance venues, and indoor dining establishments to require proof of vaccination.

Q: How do I show proof of vaccination?
Proof of vaccination may include the following (along with a State Issued photo ID):

  • CDC Vaccination Card (or photo)
  • NYC COVID Safe App: Android | iOS
  • NY Excelsior Pass
  • NYC Vaccination Record
  • An official immunization record from outside NYC or the U.S.*

You will only need to provide proof once, and your student account will be updated to reflect your vaccination status.

Q: What are the 3 authorized and recommended COVID-19 vaccines?

  • Pfizer–BioNTech
  • Moderna
  • Janssen/Johnson & Johnson

*If you are an international student and received a vaccine that has not yet been approved in the US, please contact [email protected]. Please note that we will accept proof of immunization for vaccines that have met the criteria for safety and efficacy set by the World Health Organization (WHO).

If you received the vaccine outside the U.S., you must have an official immunization record that includes:

  • First name and last name
  • Date of birth
  • Vaccine product name (only vaccines authorized by the WHO are acceptable)
  • Date(s) administered
  • Site where the vaccine was administered, or name of the person who administered it

Q: When am I considered fully vaccinated?

  • The criteria to be considered fully vaccinated is two weeks after the one-shot dose of Janssen/ Johnson and Johnson, or two weeks after the second shot of Pfizer or Moderna.

Q: What if I have already had COVID-19?

  • Students who have previously had or been exposed to COVID-19 will also be required to be vaccinated.

Q: What if I am under the age of 12, and cannot receive the vaccine?

  • Unfortunately, at this time we will not be able to accommodate unvaccinated individuals at our 322 West 45th Street location for all adult drop-in classes. (Policy does not apply to weekend Children and Teen Program Students.)

Q: Will I still need to wear a mask during class?

  • Face coverings/masks must still be worn by all in common areas of the studio. (The current CDC recommendation is that face coverings/masks should be worn indoors regardless of vaccination status.)
  • NYC has not mandated face coverings/masks indoors but also recommends the practice. At this time face coverings/masks may be optional in some classes.

Q: What if I am unable to receive any of the COVID-19 vaccines due to a medical issue?

  • At this time, exemptions will only be considered for employees with medical issues.
  • All students attending BDC must be fully vaccinated.

With the new COVID-19 delta variant on the rise, we are updating our studio protocols for the health and safety of our dance family beginning Monday, July 12, 2021.

  • Masks will now be required in all common areas at all times.
  • If you are not fully vaccinated, you are required to wear a mask in the classroom.
  • If you are fully vaccinated*, you have the option to remove your mask in the classroom (some restrictions may apply).

*We will also begin requiring proof of vaccination for students at check-in. You may show your vaccination card, photo of your vaccination card, or Excelsior pass. If you do not have proof, then you will be required to keep your mask on at all times.
