Terri Best's career as a dancer, choreographer and teacher spans nearly three decades. Her television, commercial and stage work includes: Star Trek: Phase 2, McDonald's, The Dolly Parton and Kenny Rogers Christmas Special, The American Choreography Awards and the 15th Annual Golden Eagle Awards.
She is Artistic Director of the Lester Horton Award winning company, Terri Best Dance. They have performed to critical acclaim and enthusiastic audiences throughout Southern California, including the L.A. Dance Invitational, Celebrate Dance, Pasadena Dance Festival and the Dance Under the Stars Choreography Festival, where Terri was a finalist for her choreography in 2009, 2010 and 2011. Described by the L.A. Times as “Thrilling, in your face…[with] a soaring sense of promise,” her work has also been commissioned by the L.A. Contemporary Dance Company, Commonality Dance Company and the Trudl Zipper Dance Institute, and performed at the Luckman, Alex, Nate Holden, El Portal, Diavolo, Japan America Theater, Zipper Hall, McCallum Theater and Pasadena Civic Auditorium, among other venues.
Terri is the honored recipient of the 2008 Stanley Holden Award for Distinguished Teaching, presented by Edward Villella at the 9th Annual L.A. Dance Invitational. She has been on faculty at EDGE Performing Arts Center since 1993, during which time she has trained and prepared numerous dancers for professional careers. Her students can be seen dancing in film and on television, on Broadway and in dance companies. She conducts master classes and workshops throughout the U.S. and abroad, and was a guest teacher at Balettakademien’s International Summer Courses in Stockholm, Sweden in 2010 and 2011.
