Tessandra Chavez began training in dance at the age of 5, choreographing at 11 and started her dance company, Unity Dance Ensemble, at the age of 15. Since then, Tessandra has gone on to achieve several choreography awards, including the 2004 Jazz Dance World Congress Silver Leo for Excellence in Choreography.

She now resides in Los Angeles where she expanded her dance company and launched Unity LA, the third branch of Unity Dance Ensemble preceding Unity San Diego and Unity 2 (the apprentice company). Ms. Chavez is currently teaching for professional studios in LA such as the Edge and the Debbie Allen Dance Academy. In addition to teaching in LA, she is also traveling nationally as a master teacher and choreographer.

Tessandra is known for her innovative and groundbreaking style of blending Jazz, Hip Hop and Modern. Her powerful niche as a choreographer is the ability to move her audience through her emotional masterpieces. She is an inspirational teacher who believes in making dancers great people along with being amazing dancers.

Ms. Chavez is very proud to announce that Debbie Allen has discovered her talent and is producing her debut LA show coming this year! Look out for it!

Most recently, Tessandra has become a member of the "So You Think You Can Dance" family choreographing opening numbers and routines for the extraordinary dancers that grace the stage.

“I am very blessed to be able to do what I love for a living. I live and breathe it and I love inspiring dancers and making a difference. I lead by example and believe you can only truly succeed by giving 100% of yourself in all aspects. Breaking boundaries and taking risks is the only way I create. The more the line is pushed the better.”
