Alan Danielson is a contemporary dance artist in the Humphrey‐Limón tradition. An internationally known Master Teacher of dance and music, he is the School Director of the Limón Institute in New York City, and also directs his own company – Dance by Alan Danielson. Since 1989, Dance by Alan Danielson has performed throughout the US and Mexico, Europe and Asia, including 8 New York City seasons. Mr. Danielson’s choreography has been commissioned by Danspace Project (NYC), Gala Arte A.C. (Mexico), Institut del Teatre (Spain), and F.E.D.E Danza Laboratorio (Italy) among others. His work has also been produced by Pori Dance Company (Finland), Statens Ballethøgskole (Norway), and numerous professional and student dance companies.
Mr. Danielson has been a guest artist in Dance Festivals and Conservatories around the world, including Kuopio Dance Festival (Finland), Centro Nacional de las Artes (Mexico), Tokyo Summer Dance Festival, and North Carolina School of the Arts. He has been on faculty at New York University, Long Island University, and has taught dance in New York City at the Limón Institute, as well other prestigious New York City dance studios. He has also taught Music for Dancers in The Alvin Ailey School, New York University Tisch School of the Arts, Florida State University. Mr. Danielson was a professional musician before he began dancing. He holds a Bachelor of Music Degree in Choral Conducting, and has also worked as a dance accompanist (pianist) in the major New York City dance studios. He earned an MFA in Dance from Florida State University, and was honored with the Alumni Arts Achievement Award from Wayne State University.
