Joanna Numata’s love of movement lead her to the local dance studio as a young child. At the age of 17, she moved to NYC to attend Hunter College. Shortly after moving, she started training at Broadway Dance Center, where she continued her studies in jazz, tap, ballet, african, and began learning different street styles.

After devoting much of her time to improving her craft, Joanna's tenacious efforts paid off. She was invited to become a member of Rhapsody James's company. This opportunity allowed her to gain the experience and training she would need for the commercial dance world. Almost one year after she began training in the city, she booked her first job, and began her career as a professional dancer.

During the summer of 2005, she started teaching at different studios in Manhattan. This eventually broadened Joanna’s teaching opportunities, leading her across the US and abroad to conduct workshops.

Joanna has had the privilege of dancing with such artists as Kanye West, Beyonce, Rihanna, Fergie, Black Eyed Peas, Busta Rhymes, Nelly, Pharrell, Cassie, Diddy, Romeo Santos, and Dirty Money, to name a few. She has worked on the feature films, Step Up 3D, I AM LEGEND, The Smurfs and Friends with Benefits.

Joanna has also had the opportunity to choreograph for various artists, most notably for Hong Kong pop sensation Joey Yung’s 1314 concert at Hong Kong Coliseum. Other notable credits include the Victoria's Secret Fashion Show, Fashion Rocks, MTV VMA's, SNL, Law & Order, How to Make it in America, Jimmy Fallon Show, Dr.Scholls national commercial, Moncler for NY Fashion Week, ABC Upfront, and industrials for MAC Cosmetics, Barney’s, Google, Youtube, Tommy Hilfiger, L'Oreal, Nexxus, Nike, Adidas, Bloomingdales, Sobe Lifewater, and Equinox.

Joanna wants to share her love of movement and musicality with the world, and give other young dancers the tools and opportunities they need in order to be successful in the dance industry.
