Sissa’s heels foundations and techniques class focuses on alignment, weight placement, foundational shapes, floor work, transitions, and freestyle. Both commercial and theatrical heel footwear are welcome. Class begins with a barefoot warm up followed by extensive center technique exercises in heels. Dancers work across the floor exploring walks, traveling floor work, and functional direction changes. Class finishes with freestyle exercises developed to elevate dancers’ musicality, confidence, and unique movement style dancing in heels. Class is high-energy, detailed, and technical, with an overall emphasis on individual artistry and community.
Sissa’s acro class is structured with a full body warm up, center exercises, and repeating passes across a tumbling mat. Students will work on balance skills, limbering, and power tumbling preparation focusing on strength, flexibility, and dexterity. As an open level class, students will be given individualized skills appropriate for their level and are encouraged to work at their own pace. Sissa Strain is certified 10+ years to teach acrobatics and tumbling by Dance Masters of America.
