An all-around tap and percussive-dance artist, she was mentored by legendary bebop hoofer Jimmy Slyde, an influence she insists on transmitting in a performing arts world where music is a challenge to maintain live on a dance stage. In NYC, she taught ongoingly at New York University, Broadway Dance Center, Sarah Lawrence College and many universities around the US, while helping establish the visibility of the european contemporary movement with her guest appearances at ImpulZtanz (Vienna), the Institute del Teatre (Barcelona), the Centre National de La Danse (Paris), the Liverpool Institute of The Performing Arts (UK), the Tanzhaus of Dusseldorf (Germany) and much more.
A rare woman in a tap-generation dominated by the images (and sounds) of male hoofers, her self-taught managing skills owed her to tour her own original work thru South and North America, extensively throughout Europe, the Middle-East, Africa, Asia and the Carribeas. Among her numerous marks of distinction she holds a Bessie Award for Outstanding Creative Achievement and a fellowship from the notorious John Simon Guggeheim Foundation. A noted dancer in David Michalek's Slow Dance world-touring video exhibit, she keeps breaking new ground with her multi-media production Tap Experience and runs the Jimmy Slyde Institute in Barcelona.
