COVID-19 VACCINATION REQUIREMENT UPDATE

As of Jun 1, 2022, BDC  no longer requires Proof of Vaccination for students, dancers, and visitors (all Employees and Program Stduents are still required to be fully vaccinated). Some faculty members may require masks in class. 

The Children & Teen Program (CTP) student policies will remain in place through the end of the 2021-2022 CTP Season. All students, faculty, and staff must show proof of full vaccination) until June 19, 2022. Dancers ages 3-4 are still required to wear masks through the end of the season. Beginning June 21, Proof of Vaccination for students and visitors will not be required. Some Faculty members may require masks in class. All Employees are still mandated by New York City to be fully vaccinated.

Masks are now optional at BDC*, however, everyone entering the building age 5+ is still required to show proof of a full regimen of the COVID-19 vaccine (two weeks from the date of the last shot).
*Some teachers may request that they be worn in their class.

Although The Key to NYC has been dropped, BDC will continue to require proof of vaccination until further notice.

COVID-19 UPDATE: VACCINATION REQUIREMENT

Ages 12+

  • Starting December 27, 2021, people 12 and older participating in public indoor activities will be required to show proof of full vaccination (two weeks from the date of the last shot). 

Ages 5-11

  • December 14, 2021-January 28, 2022 children ages 5 to 11 will be required to have proof of vaccination for the public indoor activities. They must show they have received at least one dose of a vaccine.
  • January 29, 2022 children ages 5 to 11 will be required to have proof of vaccination for the public indoor activities. They must show proof of a full regimen of the COVID-19 vaccine.

    UPDATED COVID-19 MASK POLICY 

    Beginning Friday, Dec 17, 2021 masks will be mandatory at all times while at BDC, including in the classroom.

    COVID-19 UPDATE: VACCINATION REQUIREMENT

    ADULTS 13+ years old

    • Since September 6, 2021, all students, faculty and staff must show proof of full vaccination (two weeks from the date of the last shot). This policy fulfills the New York City mandate requiring all indoor fitness, performance venues and indoor dining establishments to require proof
    • of vaccination.

    CHILDREN 5+ years old
    On December6, 2021, COVID-19 vaccination proof requirements has been expanded to include younger children and to require full vaccination:

    • Starting December 14, children ages 5 to 11 will be required to have proof of vaccination for the public indoor activities. They must show they have received at least one dose of a vaccine.
    • Starting December 27, people 12 and older participating in public indoor activities will be required to show proof of full vaccination (two weeks from the date of the last shot). 

    Q: How do I show proof of vaccination?
    Proof of vaccination may include the following (along with a State Issued photo ID):

    • CDC Vaccination Card (or photo)
    • NYC COVID Safe App: Android | iOS
    • NY Excelsior Pass
    • NYC Vaccination Record
    • An official immunization record from outside NYC or the U.S.*

    You will only need to provide proof once, and your student account will be updated to reflect your vaccination status.

    Q: What are the 3 authorized and recommended COVID-19 vaccines?

    • Pfizer–BioNTech 
    • Moderna 
    • Janssen/Johnson & Johnson

    *If you are an international student and received a vaccine that has not yet been approved in the US, please contact [email protected]. Please note that we will accept proof of immunization for vaccines that have met the criteria for safety and efficacy set by the World Health Organization (WHO).

    If you received the vaccine outside the U.S., you must have an official immunization record that includes:

    • First name and last name
    • Date of birth
    • Vaccine product name (only vaccines authorized by the WHO are acceptable)
    • Date(s) administered
    • Site where the vaccine was administered, or name of the person who administered it

    Q: When am I considered fully vaccinated?

    • The criteria to be considered fully vaccinated is two weeks after the one-shot dose of Janssen/ Johnson and Johnson, or two weeks after the second shot of Pfizer or Moderna. 

    Q: What if I have already had COVID-19?

    • Students who have previously had or been exposed to COVID-19 will also be required to be vaccinated.

    Q: Will I still need to wear a mask during class?

    • Face coverings/masks must still be worn by all in common areas of the studio. (The current CDC recommendation is that face coverings/masks should be worn indoors regardless of vaccination status.)
    • NYC has not mandated face coverings/masks indoors but also recommends the practice. At this time face coverings/masks may be optional in some classes.

    Q: What if I am unable to receive any of the COVID-19 vaccines due to a medical issue?

    • At this time, exemptions will only be considered for employees with medical issues.
    • All students attending BDC must be fully vaccinated.

    Broadway Dance Center will require proof of full vaccination (two weeks from the date of the last shot) for students, faculty, and staff starting Monday, Sept 6, 2021. This policy fulfills the New York City mandate requiring all indoor fitness, performance venues, and indoor dining establishments to require proof of vaccination.

    UPDATED COVID-19 MASK POLICY 

    We are updating our studio protocols in accordance with CDC and state recommendations,  Tuesday, Aug 3, 2021.

    • Masks will now be required at all times, regardless of vaccination status. In common areas and while taking class.

    *We will continue to requiring proof of vaccination for students at check-in. You may show your vaccination card, photo of your vaccination card, or Excelsior pass. We will indicate vaccination status on your BDC Account once proof is verified, so you will not need to show it for future visits to the studio.

    COVID-19 MASK POLICY 

    With the new COVID-19 delta variant on the rise, we are updating our studio protocols for the health and safety of our dance family beginning Monday, July 12, 2021.

    • Masks will now be required in all common areas at all times.
    • If you are not fully vaccinated, you are required to wear a mask in the classroom.
    • If you are fully vaccinated*, you have the option to remove your mask in the classroom (some restrictions may apply).

    *We will also begin requiring proof of vaccination for students at check-in. You may show your vaccination card, photo of your vaccination card, or Excelsior pass. If you do not have proof, then you will be required to keep your mask on at all times. We will indicate vaccination status on your BDC Account once proof is verified, so you will not need to show it for future visits to the studio.

    COVID-19 RESTRICTIONS LIFTED FOR FULLY VACCINATED INDIVIDUALS!

    Governor Cuomo announced Tuesday, June 15, 2021 that 70% of New Yorkers had received at least one dose of a COVID-19 vaccine. At this time most restrictions placed on businesses are lifted.

    • If you are not fully vaccinated, you are required to wear a mask while at BDC and in the classroom
    • If you are fully vaccinated, wearing a mask is optional
    • Class capacity limits are lifted
    • Please continue to sign up for classes via the BDC App or website (available 3 days in advance)
    • No onsite registration
    • Livestream class schedule continues

    BDC is REOPENING to in-person classes April 5!

    We will begin in-person classes Monday, April 5. Students can sign up online or with our app up to three days in advance. Space is limited.

    We will still offer our BDC Online schedule! Classes are hybrid, so you can sign up for in-person and livestream options. Please read our reopening information page for more details.

    BDC is temporarily closed. We will keep you informed of any further changes.

    Due to the "New York State on PAUSE" executive order, BDC will be temporarily closed until this restriction is lifted. Phase 1 began in NYC on June 8, 2020. Please visit this page or our Instagram (@bdcnyc) for future updates on our reopening date. All regularly scheduled drop-in classes, workshops, and special events are cancelled until further notice. 

    Please rest assured that we will be extending class packages.

    Broadway Dance Center is closely monitoring CDC and New York State guidelines concerning COVID-19, also known as coronavirus. Our priority is to keep everyone in the BDC community healthy and safe by taking appropriate action and precautions. Your well-being is at utmost importance to us, and we are committed to keeping our space as safe as possible.

    What we're doing

    • Online Classes available - Register now!
    • In-studio classes, workshops, and events are temporarily suspended through June 2020
    • We have increased our studio cleaning schedule
    • Additional hand sanitizers have been installed
    • We have provided additional disinfectant wipes for ballet barres, shoes, and mats

    What you can do

    • If you're sick, please stay home
    • Please make sure to cover your coughs and sneezes with a tissue or your sleeve
    • Wash your hands often with soap and water
    • Make use of hand sanitizers and wipe down your ballet barres, yoga mats, and street shoes with provided wipes
    • Even better, bring your own yoga mat to class!
    • Avoid handshakes, hugs, and other physical touch

    Don't forget that dance can have numerous health benefits including improved strength, heart-health, balance, and immune system function. It also decreases stress and promotes emotional well-being. BDC will continue to do our part in keeping our dance space as safe and as healthy as possible.
