Barry Kerollis is an award-winning choreographer and renowned dance educator offering a diverse background in ballet and concert-based contemporary dance to share with students and professionals across the New York dance scene. He is Artistic Director of Movement Headquarters Ballet Company, writes for Dance Media publications, and hosts the Pas de Chát: Talking Dance podcast on the Premier Dance Network. His choreography has been performed from New York City to Los Angeles, and additional career credits include judging/teaching for Youth America Grand Prix, dancing with Pacific Northwest Ballet and Houston Ballet, and recognition from Dance Magazine as "an innovator using unique media to connect with audiences."
Teaching a range of classes from pure classical ballet to his own style of edgy, technical contemporary movement, Barry offers an energetic approach that cultivates strength in technique, dynamic movement quality, and emotional health. In addition to teaching in NYC, he maintains a busy schedule teaching master classes and choreographing around the world.
As a choreographer, Barry has received many accolades. He was selected out of more than 60 international applicants to choreograph at the National Choreographers Initiative. He was also chosen to receive the Outstanding Choreographer Award at Youth America Grand Prix, and named a finalist at the McCallum Theatre’s Choreography Festival, and Visions Choreographic Competition. His works have been performed in company and school productions, festivals, and workshops across the country.
Beyond his work in the studio, Barry has been recognized as an Influencer by Dance/USA. Barry's work and writing have been featured extensively in Dance Magazine, Pointe Magazine, Dance Spirit, Dance Teacher, and Dance Informa. He was also named among a list of "49 Creative Geniuses Who Use Blogging to Promote Their Art" by Boost Blog Traffic. Barry is featured in dance book, Where Snowflakes Dance and Swear, the dance documentary, Dancing Across Borders, and in Bob Rizzo’s educational video, Ballet with Style.
