Karida Griffith

Karida Griffith is from Portland, Oregon. She grew up training in Tap, Jazz, Ballet, and West African dance. She has been a Radio City Rockette, and performed in Cirque du Soleil's Banana Shpeel choreographed by Jared Grimes. She has most recently performed as a member of Dorrance Dance, as a part of Michelle Dorrance's Bessie-Award winning choreography with Danspace, and at Jacob's Pillow. She has also been a featured soloist at the New York City Tap Festival.

Karida has appeared on The Tony Awards with Hugh Jackman, and has made multiple Today Show appearances. Additional highlights include performances at the NYCDA Foundation Gala with Chloe Arnold, Broadway Underground with Jared Grimes, the Harare International Festival of the Arts with Baakari Wilder, the Cotton Club Sophisticated Ladies with Dormeshia Sumbry-Edwards, Jacob's Pillow with Barbara Duffy and Company, and the CTFD Gala with Randy Skinner.

Karida was privileged to work with the great Henry LeTang and the incomparable Dianne Walker in the European tour of the Broadway hit Black and Blue. She also performed in Sinatra: His Voice, His World, His Way, directed by Des McAnuff and choreographed by Casey Nicholaw.

Karida produced CREATIONS: Choreographic Introductions, which premiered her own choreography, and featured the outstanding works of Chloe Arnold, Michelle Dorrance, Dana Foglia, Mishay Petronelli, and Claudia Rahardjanoto.

Karida has worked with the Children's Theatre Company for several years as a dance teacher, Co- Artistic Director, and now as a member of its Board of Directors. “Building Character Onstage”, the Children's Theatre Company is a non-profit organization rooted in the belief that, through the arts, children and youth can become voices of positive change in the world
