Richard Ellner

Founder

As an entrepreneur and dancer in the 1980s, Richard Ellner, along with Frank Hatchett, co-founded Broadway Dance Center (BDC) with the vision of housing all genres of dance in one studio. Richard's unwavering passion and drive led to the curation of a class schedule that welcomed recreational and professional dancers alike. His vision fostered inclusivity and encouragement, and ultimately cultivated the BDC community that exists today.

Three decades later, BDC is a global leader in dance education for aspiring and professional dancers of all ages and levels. We believe Richard would be proud that his dream of a “home away from home” for dancers is indeed thriving here in the heart of the Broadway theater district.

With this vision of inclusivity, The Richard Ellner Scholarship Program was created for underrepresented communities who seek a career in dance.
