A dancer with even basic acting chops is fifty times more marketable. This fun, low-pressure class will cover basic speech technique, breathing, small group, and individual exercises; all with an emphasis on the craft and technique of acting. If you've ever been interested in acting but were a bit nervous or didn't know where to begin, this is the class for you. *Non-dancing class.
Improve expression, creativity, and acting range as a dancer. Through unique exercises which combine acting, artistic interpretation, and in class performance, dancers will begin to truly unlock creative fearlessness. All genres of dance welcome.
This class is an excellent introduction for dancers just beginning their training, as well as performers looking to focus more in depth upon their monologue technique. The class begins with a vocal/speech warm-up, then we move into how to choose, prepare, rehearse, and present a monologue. This is an excellent class for preparing to audition for agents, conservatory, and college theatre programs.
Students will learn the basics of acting for film and television through exercises in creating a realistic character, drama vs. comedy, pacing, script analysis, marks, camera angles, camera terminology, audition technique, and how to create a reel. A portion of each class will be filmed so students can watch and learn from their work.
