Chloe O. Davis is a performer, choreographer, and author who works in the entertainment industry in New York City. A graduate of Hampton University and Temple University, she has centered her creative platform on amplifying the narratives of Black culture and heightening the awareness of LGBTQIA+ community.
Davis’s work as a dancer, actor, and creative has allowed her to travel to all fifty states and internationally. She has performed at premier theaters, including Broadway, Off-Broadway, The Metropolitan Opera, and the Kennedy Center, among others, and has appeared in Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom on Netflix, Harlem on Amazon, Tell Me A Story on Paramount+, and Jesus Christ Superstar Live in Concert on NBC.
She has choreographed for Late Night with Seth Meyers, The REV Theater, Broadway Bares—a Fundraiser for Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS—and was the Associate Choreographer of the Paradise Square (Broadway). Davis has won a Drama Desk for Outstanding Choreography and The Awards (formally The Antonyos) for Best Choreography. This past season, Davis performed in the new production, Champion, at The Metropolitan Opera and will choreograph the revival of A New Brain at Barrington Stage Company.
Davis’s debut book, The Queens’ English, The LGBTQIA+ Dictionary for Lingo and Colloquial Phrases (Clarkson Potter, 2021) celebrates the etymological diversity of over eight hundred terms to describe the collective gay and queer experience. She believes this dictionary is a starting point for the important conversations around inclusivity, sexuality, gender expression, and gender identity. The Queens’ English reached international audiences and was released in the UK in June 2021 with Square Peg/Vintage publishing. Davis is excited to announce that her new edition, The Queens’ English, The LGBTQIA+ Dictionary for Young Readers is scheduled to release Spring 2024 with Simon & Schuster Children’s publishing.
