Dariusz R. Hochman received his professional education at the National Ballet School in Warsaw, Poland under Prof. Irena Szymanska & Leon Wojcikowski, in Paris with Olga Preobrajenskaya, Serge Peretti, and Victor Gzovsky. He studied in London with Anna Northcote, in New York at the School of American Ballet Theatre with Igor Schwezoff & Leon Danielian, and also at the School of New York City Ballet with Andre Eglevsky.
His career as a performing artist and choreographer continued internationally. In Paris, Dariusz was engaged to perform with Leonide Massines' Ballet Company and danced solo parts in the filmed productions of Le Beau Danube and Boutique Fantasque. In the US he performed with the Metropolitan Opera. He was a guest teacher for the Harkness School for Ballet Arts, Pennsylvania Ballet Company, Alvin Ailey's American Dance Center, Morelli Ballet School in New York, and he taught at Adelphi University & the National Academy of Arts in Illinois. Recently he was a guest teacher for the Ballet Arts school in Minneapolis and Skidmore College in Saratoga Springs, NY.
Hochman has been artistic director, choreographer and principal dancer for the Israel National Opera Ballet Company in Tel Aviv. Later on he was appointed by the US State Department in a cultural exchange project to serve as an artistic director for the Ballet National in Panama City. Upon seeing his choreography Dame Margot Fonteyn personally recommended Dariusz to stage his ballets for the National Ballet Company of Guatemala and Teatro Municipal in Sao Paulo as well as Palacio das Artes Ballet Co. in Brasil.
In Argentina he taught as a guest for Teatro Colon and the Ballet Co. in Tucuman. Upon his return to Europe, he was a guest teacher for well-known ballet companies: Zurich Ballet Co., Verona Ballet Co. and Berlin Opera Ballet in West Berlin. In Norway he directed Ballet Center School. Among others, he has also been a teacher in Tokyo, Japan.
Later on, Rosella Hightower invited Dariusz to teach at the Ecole Superieur de Danse and the Centre de Danse International in Cannes. In France, Hochman received the equivalence of the French State Diploma as a professeur de danse classique for his lifetime achievements in the dance profession.
Dariusz Hochman was also formerly on faculty at the Joffrey Ballet School in New York City.
