Teacher Bio

Ginger Cox is on faculty at Pace University and Joffrey Texas. She holds a Masters in Kinesiology, a BFA in Dance, and is certified by the National Academy of Sports Medicine as a Corrective Exercise Specialist and Personal Trainer. She is the creator of the Dancing Anatomy Workshop, and has presented seminars at the Dance Science and Somatics conference, the Bill Evans 6th Annual Somatic Conference, and the Dance Educators Training Institute.

Class Descriptions

Contemporary Jazz

Ginger’s class is an environment for dancers to explore their physical possibilities and imagination in dance. Pulling from her diverse background in Jazz, Modern and Ballet, Ginger gives the dancers a diverse range of styles accompanied by a broad spectrum of music to promote versatility. iDANZ Critix Corner quotes, “Cox explores movement in an unpredictable way.”

Ginger's technical warm up teach dancers how to use their bodies optimally with exercises that strengthen and stretch every muscle, with the focus on fluidity, weight exchange, core stability, balances and transitions. She encourages students to be an independent thinkers, develop distinct artistic perspectives with inquisitive, open minds, and express choreography with their creative and authentic selves.

Int Jazz

This class will celebrate all styles of Jazz! Each week Ginger will teach a variety of Jazz styles such as: lyrical, commercial, traditional jazz, props, and 'jazznasty'! Don't be intimidated by the level! Come ready to have fun and learn something different!

Jumps and Turns

This class helps the dancer gain a better understanding of how to develop consistent, clean turns and powerful jumps!

Improvisational Partnering

Explore, Create, Connect! This fun class will explore the possibilities within creating partnering work through improvisation and a series of structured exercises designed to break down barriers, build trust, explore weight exchange, contact, floor work, lifts, shapes and negative spaces inside a movement relationship. Come with an open mind ready to explore! All levels welcome. No set choreography required
