Class Descriptions

Jazz

Ian’s classes ask students of all dance backgrounds to use what they know and are comfortable with to absorb different and new techniques while blending style and performance. Class will aim to help students find their individual voices in movement while building on their technical foundation.

Class begins with a jazz/ballet-based warmup that encourages students to be present while working through a series of exercises. The across-the-floor and class combinations feature Ian’s belief that the numerous styles of dance should be used like paints on a palette. Versatility is preached throughout class and students are asked to take risks while exploring movement and style that may be new to them.
