Lauryn Johnson

Lauryn Johnson has 24 years of dance training and 11 years of teaching experience in styles including ballet, jazz, contemporary, tap, musical theater, and tumbling, as well as various styles of hip hop including b-boying, popping, waacking, and house. Lauryn trained for 13 years at Mt. Zion School of Performing Arts in Michigan as a competitive dancer. As a student, she worked her way through the assistant, rehearsal director, and teacher training programs.

From 2013-18 she was a member of Vertical Ambition Dance Company, a company based in Flint, MI that specializes in hip-hop and contemporary. In 2014, Lauryn spent 4 months training in NYC at Broadway Dance Center’s Professional Semester. Returning to Michigan to finish college she graduated from Oakland University in 2017 with a BA in Graphic Design and Professional Writing and continued teaching at Mt. Zion School of Performing Arts where her choreography won special recognition at regional competitions. In 2018, Lauryn moved to NYC to pursue performing opportunities and continue to teach and train there. For 2 semesters Lauryn taught for the organization Circle of Dance which brings dance to NYC public school students through 10-week residencies. She has taught at numerous studios in the tri-state area and currently works as a judge for True Talent dance competition. During the pandemic, without having students to choreograph on, Lauryn took to TikTok and Instagram as a creative outlet for her choreographic ideas. Now she is back in the studio teaching and training and ready to dance with you!
