Teacher Bio

Lloyd Knight was born in England and reared in Miami. He has a BFA from the New World School of the Arts under Artistic Director Daniel Lewis.

Lloyd joined the Martha Graham Company in 2005, was promoted to soloist in 2009, and promoted to Principal in 2014. He has had ballets choreographed on him by Nacho Duato twice, Andonis Foniadakis, Larry Keigwin, Doug Varone, Lar Lubovitch, Klye Abraham, Liz Gerring, Michelle Dorrance, Anne Bogart, Pontus Linberg and Mats Ek.

Class Descriptions

Contemporary

Lloyd Knight's class is for the beginner, intermediate, or advance dancer who wants to begin or learn more about the vocabulary around the Martha Graham technique.

The class includes Graham Floor work, complex center combinations that supports what was learned on the floor, including piles, tendues, adagios, and transitions between movements/combinations. This will be followed by across the floor exercises.

All students will be provided attention that will help them not only learn more about the Graham technique, but also what is needed to become a well-rounded dancer.
