Valeria Solomonoff

Choreographer Valeria Solomonoff born in Argentina and based in New York. Valeria is a tango pioneer that opens the form while respecting the tradition, choreographing for theater, circus, flash mob, films, tango shows and teaching tango for the last thirty years. Most recently she received Elliot Norton nomination for the choreography of Sammi Cannold’s Evita Musical presented at New York City Center, American Repertory Theater, Boston and Shakespeare Theater Company, Washington DC. With her company, Valetango, Valeria received 2 ACE Awards for choreography and best dancer, 2 HOLA Awards for choreography and direction and 2 ACE nominations and twice received Awards for her solos at Argentinean Dance Festivals. Shewon the Lucy Bowen Prize for Inclusive Choreography, was Resident Fellow at Center for Ballet and The Arts, NYU and is Research Associate at Partnering Lab, Harvard University. 

She is a Tango professor at NYU, New Studio on Broadway, and a Partnering professor at Juilliard Drama Department. Solomonoff founded and co-directed the first all-female tango company worldwide, TangoMujer, contributing to opening the way for today’s acceptance of same gender tango and touring internationally to rave reviews.
